Given by: Enoch, in the closing epistle of comfort that crowns his book. Given to: the souls of the righteous — the faithful living under oppression, and those who have already died in righteousness.

Written for communities under pressure who watched the righteous die poor and unavenged while their oppressors flourished; the sinners' jeer — 'as we die, so die the righteous' — was the living voice of that despair, and Enoch answers it head-on.

Fear ye not, ye souls of the righteous, And be hopeful ye that have died in righteousness.

Enoch commands the righteous — even those who have already died — to lay down fear and take up hope: dying in righteousness is not defeat, for God has not finished with His faithful ones.
