Given by: Enoch, in his epistle of comfort. Given to: the suffering righteous, including those whose souls descended to Sheol in grief, their goodness unrewarded in life.

Enoch's first readers had buried faithful people who died poor, oppressed and unvindicated; the book answers their crisis not by denying the injustice but by promising the day on which God Himself will address it.

And grieve not if your soul into Sheol has descended in grief, And that in your life your body fared not according to your goodness, But wait for the day of the judgement of sinners And for the day of cursing and chastisement.

Do not let it embitter you that goodness went unrewarded in this life; instead of despair, take up patient waiting for the day when God judges sin and sets every account right.
