Given by: the Lord, the Great Glory, speaking from the crystal throne in the highest heaven of Enoch's vision. Given to: Enoch, who lay prostrate on his face until the Lord Himself called him closer.

No ancient subject approached a king's throne uninvited; to be called forward by the king's own mouth was the highest favour. Enoch's readers, who knew earthly courts, would feel the wonder of a mortal summoned before the Great Glory Himself.

And until then I had been prostrate on my face, trembling: and the Lord called me with His own mouth, and said to me: ‘Come hither, Enoch, and hear my word.’

Prostrate and trembling before the throne of the Great Glory, Enoch hears the Lord call him by name with His own mouth: come near, and hear my word. Reverent awe and personal nearness belong together.
