Given by: Noah, crying out in the Noah section of the Parables as the earth sank and its destruction drew near. Given to: Enoch his grandfather, the righteous seer, at the ends of the earth.

Consulting the elder and the seer was the ancient world's path to wisdom in crisis; the scene dignifies that instinct — the coming deliverer of mankind begins as a frightened man humble enough to ask his righteous grandfather what God is doing.

And he arose from thence and went to the ends of the earth, and cried aloud to his grandfather Enoch: and Noah said three times with an embittered voice: ‘Hear me, hear me, hear me.’ And I said unto him: ‘Tell me what it is that is falling out on the earth that the earth is in such evil plight and shaken, lest perchance I shall perish with it?’

Seeing the earth sinking towards destruction, Noah does not freeze or guess: he travels to the ends of the earth and cries three times to righteous Enoch — hear me, tell me what is happening, and how I may be saved. Crisis is met by seeking God's word from the godly.
