Given by: Enoch, in his final year, completing the transmission of all he had seen and written. Given to: Methuselah his son, as keeper and courier of the books for the generations of the world.

In the ancient world books survived only by deliberate labour — recopied before decay, guarded from fire and war, carried across migrations. A father's books placed in a son's hands were a sacred trust in the most literal sense: neglect meant extinction.

And now, my son Methuselah, all these things I am recounting to thee and writing down for thee, and I have revealed to thee everything, and given thee books concerning all these: so preserve, my son Methuselah, the books from thy father’s hand, and (see) that thou deliver them to the generations of the world.

Enoch hands Methuselah his life's revelation in written form with a double charge: preserve the books from thy father's hand, and deliver them to the generations of the world. God's truth is a trust to be guarded intact and handed on unbroken.
