Given by: Enoch, in his final testament to his gathered family. Given to: the children of righteousness — his sons, and the righteous of the generations to come.

The 'double heart' (in Hebrew idiom, 'a heart and a heart') was Israel's classic image of hypocrisy — Psalm 12:2 condemns it, and James 1:8 later warns that the double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Wisdom teaching also insisted that companions shape character.

Love uprightness and walk therein. And draw not nigh to uprightness with a double heart, And associate not with those of a double heart, But walk in righteousness, my sons. And it shall guide you on good paths, And righteousness shall be your companion.

Love uprightness — do not merely perform it — and walk in it with a single, undivided heart; keep clear of double-hearted company, and righteousness itself will become your guide and companion on good paths.
