Given by: Enoch, sealing the admonitions of his epistle. Given to: his sons, warned that the surrounding pressure of sinners will work against wisdom's survival in their hearts.

Deuteronomy commanded Israel to bind God's words on heart and hand lest they be forgotten, and Proverbs 4:23 charged, 'Keep thy heart with all diligence.' In an age of scarce books, memory was the ark of Scripture — and hearts were where words survived or perished.

And hold fast my words in the thoughts of your hearts, And suffer them not to be effaced from your hearts; For I know that sinners will tempt men to evilly-entreat wisdom, So that no place may be found for her, And no manner of temptation may minish.

Grip Enoch's words in the thoughts of your heart and do not let them be rubbed out — for sinners will actively work to drive wisdom from the world until no place is found for her.
