Given by: the narrative of Judith, recounting the response of Achior the Ammonite after he saw the head of Holofernes and the deliverance God had wrought. Given to: Achior — and, by his example, to every outsider whom God's power draws to faith.

Achior was a gentile commander who had spoken truthfully about Israel's God and had been cast out to die with the town; his circumcision and joining to Israel mark a full crossing of allegiance from empire and its gods to the covenant Lord, echoing the welcome of Rahab and Ruth into God's people.

Then Achior seeing the power that the God of Israel had wrought, leaving the religion of the gentiles, he believed God, and circumcised the flesh of his foreskin, and was joined to the people of Israel, with all the succession of his kindred until this present day.

When you have seen the living God's power, turn from false religion and be joined wholly to Him and His people.
