Israel addressed God as Creator of heaven, waters, and all things; Judith sets that immensity beside her own poverty, so that her plea rests wholly on His mercy and not on any standing of her own.

O God of the heavens, creator of the waters, and Lord of the whole creation, hear me a poor wretch, making supplication to thee, and presuming of thy mercy.

Approach the Lord of all creation as a poor petitioner, presuming on nothing but His mercy.
