Given by: the angel of the presence to Moses on Sinai, recounting how Noah wrote down the God-given medicines and entrusted the book to Shem. Given to: Israel, and all who would keep and transmit God's gifts of wisdom.

Jubilees prizes the written transmission of sacred knowledge from patriarch to heir — Enoch, Noah and later Abraham all keep and pass on books — modelling a chain of faithful stewardship down the generations.

And Noah wrote down all things in a book as we instructed him concerning every kind of medicine. Thus the evil spirits were precluded from (hurting) the sons of Noah. And he gave all that he had written to Shem, his eldest son; for he loved him exceedingly above all his sons.

Noah writes down the healing wisdom God gave him and hands the book to his son Shem. Preserve God-given wisdom and pass it faithfully to the next generation.
