Given by: the angel of the presence to Moses on Sinai, recording how Abram burned the house of the idols. Given to: Israel, and everyone called to a total break with what has enslaved their worship. The model carded is the decisiveness of the renunciation, not the destruction of others' property.

Jubilees develops the traditional story of Abram destroying his father's idols to dramatise a total conversion; here the enduring lesson is the completeness of renouncing one's own idolatry, not a warrant to destroy the property of others.

And in the sixtieth year of the life of Abram, that is, in the fourth week, in the fourth year thereof, Abram arose by night, and burned the house of the idols, and he burned all that was in the house and no man knew it.

Abram rises by night and burns the house of idols to the ground. The model is the decisive, total break with idolatry — renounce your own idols wholly and finally.
