By locating Moriah at Sion, the book binds the patriarch's ram to the temple's daily offerings — every subsequent sacrifice in Jerusalem became a footnote to the day the Lord saw, and provided, on that mount.

And the prince Mastêmâ was put to shame; and Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold a ram caught... by his horns, and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it for a burnt-offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called that place 'The Lord hath seen', so that it is said in the mount the Lord hath seen: that is Mount Sion.

The accuser is put to shame, a ram is offered in the stead of the son, and the place is named 'The Lord hath seen' — provision, substitution and vindication on one mountain.
