Ancient kings claimed dominion by conquest; Genesis and Jubilees say the whole race — man and woman together — received dominion by gift, a royal office held under the true King and patterned on His care.

And after all this He created man, a man and a woman created He them, and gave him dominion over all that is upon the earth, and in the seas, and over everything that flies, and over beasts and over cattle, and over everything that moves on the earth, and over the whole earth, and over all this He gave him dominion.

On the sixth day God created man, male and female, and gave humanity dominion over earth, sea and every living thing — an authority delegated by the Creator, to be exercised as His stewards.
