Written for Jews under Hellenistic pressure to assimilate, Jubilees answers by grounding the festivals in creation and in the patriarchs' own practice; here the feast of weeks — the harvest of first fruits — is shown as a homecoming that predates Sinai.

And it came to pass in the first week in the forty-fourth jubilee, in the second year, that is, the year in which Abraham died, that Isaac and Ishmael came from the Well of the Oath to celebrate the feast of weeks -that is, the feast of the first fruits of the harvest-to Abraham, their father, and Abraham rejoiced because his two sons had come.

Sons travel home to keep the feast of first fruits with their father, and the old man rejoices — God's appointed times are meant to gather a family in gladness.
