For a people under pressure to assimilate, intermarriage with idolaters was the surest road into idolatry itself; the concern in Jubilees is fidelity to God, and the command is best heard as covenant faithfulness rather than ethnic pride.

Be thou ware, my son Jacob, of taking a wife from any seed of the daughters of Canaan; For all his seed is to be rooted out of the earth.

Abraham warns Jacob to guard the covenant line in marriage — not to bind his household to those given over to idolatry.
