Given by: the angel of the presence to Moses on Sinai, retelling how Isaac gave up the contested wells and named the third 'Room'. Given to: Moses, and through him to all tempted to fight for their rights.

In a semi-arid land, wells were precious and worth fighting for; Isaac's repeated withdrawal, naming his wells 'Perversity', 'Enmity' and finally 'Room', is a striking choice of peace over his own rights.

And they dug a second well, and they strove for that also, and he called its name 'Enmity'. And he arose from thence and they digged another well, and for that they strove not, and he called the name of it 'Room', and Isaac said: 'Now the Lord hath made room for us, and we have increased in the land.'

Rather than fight over disputed wells, Isaac moves on again and again, until God makes room — peaceableness that trusts God to provide.
