Blood-feud was the expected script when a wronged elder brother met the fugitive at last with force at his back; the reconciliation at the Jabbok overturned the whole honour-culture expectation — and Jubilees notes the brothers then settled apart, at peace without pretence.

And he passed over the Jabbok in the ninth month, on the eleventh thereof. And on that day Esau, his brother, came to him, and he was reconciled to him, and departed from him unto the land of Seir, but Jacob dwelt in tents.

On the day Jacob crosses the Jabbok, Esau — the brother who once vowed to kill him — comes to him, and he is reconciled to him; the feud ends in peace, not in blood.
