The community behind Jubilees prized the feast of weeks especially as the great annual covenant renewal, gathering to rehearse God's oath and rebind itself to Him; the book grounds this rhythm in the heavenly tablets and its own calendar.

For this reason it is ordained and written on the heavenly tablets, that they should celebrate the feast of weeks in this month once a year, to renew the covenant every year.

The feast of weeks is appointed once a year for a purpose that outlasts any calendar: to renew the covenant with God deliberately and regularly, not once only.
