Closing covenant formulas of ancient documents pronounced blessings on keepers and curses on violators; Revelation closes the canon with exactly this legal-covenantal structure.

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

When John falls at the angel's feet, the angel forbids it absolutely: 'See thou do it not... worship God.' (Repeated verbatim in Revelation 22:8–9.)
