The seven congregations of Roman Asia Minor faced imperial cult pressure, trade-guild idolatry, synagogue conflict, and internal false teaching; each letter addresses a real city whose conditions mirror its spiritual diagnosis.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Christ commands the persecuted church to refuse fear and remain faithful even to the point of death, promising the crown of life.
