Given by: Tobit, answering words of discouragement in his blindness. Given to: those tempted to despair, and to the reader as a confession of hope.

This confession of a life to come from God marks the deep hope of the faithful diaspora, sustaining a scattered people who could not see present vindication.

For we are the children of the saints, and look for that life which God will give to those that never change their faith from him.

Rebuke despair by remembering you are a child of the faithful and by hoping for the life God gives to those who never abandon Him.
