Travel across the ancient Near East was perilous, and a trustworthy hired companion was a genuine safeguard; for the diaspora Jew, choosing faithful company was also a guard on his covenant fidelity.

But go now, and seek thee out some faithful man, to go with thee for his hire: that thou mayst receive it, while I yet live.

For an important undertaking, seek out a faithful and trustworthy companion.
