Given by: the third brother, offering his hands and body before the king. Given to: the reader, as a confession of surrender and hope.

Commanded to offer his hands for mutilation, the brother willingly surrendered his body, confessing that what God gave from heaven he could yield for God's law, trusting to receive it again.

These I have from heaven, but for the laws of God I now despise them: because I hope to receive them again from him.

Received from heaven, the body itself can be surrendered for God's law in the hope of receiving it again from Him.
